Okay, so crazy loony tunes, radio talk show host Mike Savage won some award and instead of showing up to make his acceptance speech, he sent in a video. So, C-SPAN's programming department decided not to show it, cause it wasn't live, it was just a dinky little DVD... Well, now Savage is all offended that they didn't show the speech (that even he didn't make the time to formally give), and he's called on his listeners to harass C-SPAN.
So, on C-SPAN's Washington Journal, host Brian Lamb read some of the emails that he's received and responded to their false claims, point by point. Crooks & Liars has the highlights and it's really kind of great.
Is it wrong that hearing Brian Lamb say "dickhead" on TV made me laugh out loud?
In the event of a loosely defined "catastrophic event", presidential directives NSPD51 and HSPD20 would grant him full-dictatorial powers over the entire United States government, including state and local authority. With these directives, Bush has given himself the sole power to interpret the constitution anyway he chooses, and neither Congress nor the public shall be allowed to debate or disagree with anything he decides to do. All he would require is another 9/11, another Katrina, another massive blackout, another anthrax attack, or another avian flu virus.
Considering the fact that he has already presided as President during each of these events, and failed miserably at every turn, I'd wager that we, the American people, are officially in trouble.
