Countdown - Invisible Injuries

Keith Olberman speaks with Perry Jeffries about the signature wounds of the Iraq war: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and severe brain injuries. According to Jeffries, soldiers who suffer from these disorders are given Motrin and sent back out on the field.

Why am I not surprised?

A lot of people get TBI and PTSD mixed up. That's what happened here. They are giving the troops with TBI Motrin and not those with PTSD. The ones they send back with PTSD are on Zoloft among other things, with guns and flashbacks and nightmares. What makes this all the more dangerous is that they also have short term memory loss with they have PTSD. Not a good mix at all. Anger and rage, machine guns, a pocket full of pills, sleep loss, heat, stress and some of the most horrific things a person can go through. None of it is good for them. Then you have those who get really depressed and they take that machine gun to use it to end their own life. I just wanted to clear up what was said on Olbermann the other night.....Gee I love that guy! Nice blog by the way.
